Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) is going to conduct by the several premier research institutes for the admission of the candidates into the PhD and Integrated PhD programmes. Candidates who are looking for the admission into the various PhD courses can apply for the JEST 2018 on the official website. Candidates have to fill the application form according to the eligibility criteria of the application form. JEST is conducting for the two subjects only i.e. Physics and Theoretical Computer Science or Neuroscience or Computational Biology. Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) recognized the JEST as a National Eligibility Test (NET). JEST 2018-2019
Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) is a national level entrance exam and it is going to conduct by the several premier research institutes for the academic session of 2018-19. Candidates can apply online for the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) 2018 on the official website. Candidates have to fill the application form according to the eligibility criteria. The application form will be out very soon and interested candidates can fill the application form before the last date of submission.

The details of the application fees is given below:
- Application Fees for the General and OBC Category’s Candidates is Rs.300
- Application Fees for the ST and SC Category’s Candidates is Rs.150
JEST 2018-2019 Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D Programme (Physics) Course:
- Candidate must be completed his M.Sc from any recognized university or institute.
Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D in Theoretical Computer Science Course at IMSc:
- Candidate must be completed his M.Sc or M.E. or M.Tech. in Computer Science from any recognized university or institute.
Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D in Neuroscience Course at NBRC:
- Candidate must be completed his M.Sc with Physics or Mathematics or M.C.A in Computer Science from any recognized university or institute.
Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D in Computational Biology Course at IMSc:
- Candidate must be completed his M.Sc or M.E. or M.Tech or MCA in any engineering or science discipline from any recognized university or institute.
Eligibility Criteria for Integrated M.Sc Course:
- Candidate must be completed B.Sc with Physics or Mathematics from any recognized university or institute.
- For admission in IIA, candidate must have degree in B.E., B.Tech. in Electrical or Instrumentation or Engineering Physics or Electronics and Communications or Computer Science and Engineering or Optics and Photonics from any recognized university or institute.
- For admission in NISER, candidate must have degree in B.Sc with Physics or B. Tech in Engineering Physics or B.E. from any recognized university or institute.
Eligibility Criteria for Integrated M.Tech Course:
- Candidate must be completed B.Sc with Physics or Mathematics from any recognized university or institute.
- For admission in IIA, candidate must have degree in B.E., B.Tech. in Electrical or Instrumentation or Engineering Physics or Electronics and Communications or Computer Science and Engineering or Optics and Photonics from any recognized university or institute.
- For admission in NISER, candidate must have degree in B.Sc with Physics or B. Tech in Engineering Physics or B.E. from any recognized university or institute.
Eligibility Criteria for Integrated Ph.D Programme in Theoretical Computer Science Course at IMSc:
- Candidate must be completed his B.Sc or B.E. or M.Tech. or MCA in Computer Science from any recognized university or institute.
Eligibility Criteria for Integrated M.Tech – Ph.D. Programme at IIA:
- Candidate must be completed his M.Sc. (Physics or Applied Physics) or Post-B.Sc. (Hons) in Optics and Optoelectronics or Radio Physics and Electronics from any recognized university or institute.
Eligibility Criteria for Integrated Ph.D. Programme at IISER:
- Candidate must have degree in B. Sc. (Physics) or B.E. or B. Tech from any recognized university or institute.
JEST 2018-2019 Exam Pattern
- This will be an offline exam.
- There will be total 57 questions.
- In Part A (Physics) there will be two parts and in each part, there will be 25 questions each
- In the Part B (Theoretical Computer Science ) there will be 7 questions
- In the part A, each question of 3 marks and in the part B, each question is of 1 mark.
- The duration of the exam will be of 3 Hours.
- There will be no negative marking
- The questions will be asked in English language.
JEST 2018-2019 Admit Card
The admit card will be released in the fourth week of Jan 2018 on the official website. Candidates are informed that it is mandatory to bring the admit card with them otherwise no candidate will be allowed to sit in the examination without the admit card. Only those candidates will get admit card who filled the application form without any kind of mistake and submit it before the last date of submission with application fees.
JEST 2018-2019 Result
The result will be released in the month of March 2018 on the official website. Candidates can check their result by entering the roll no. and date of birth of the candidate. The results of the candidates will decide that the candidate is eligible for the counselling or not. Candidates have to score more than the cut off marks. Candidates have to keep some more patience for the results.
